The Ether began in the summer of 2020, during the height of the pandemic, when the world was searching for new ways to stay connected, grounded, and well. What started as Friday and Sunday yoga classes on Zoom and Facebook became the foundation of something much bigger. In a time of uncertainty and isolation, movement became our way of creating connection, healing, and community.
Founded by Jarvis and Dimitrie, The Ether is, first and foremost, a mobile yoga studio rooted in Chicago. Before there was a physical vision, there was movement, classes offered wherever people needed them most: online, in homes, in shared spaces, and throughout the city. From the beginning, our mission has been to bring intentional wellness experiences directly to the people, meeting the city where it is and learning from every neighborhood, every class, and every community we serve.
The journey to The Ether has not been linear. It has been shaped by previous iterations, creative experiments, lessons learned, and setbacks that challenged us to refine our vision. Earlier concepts and failed ventures taught us what was missing: not just a business, but a true space for belonging. Through those trials, the idea of The Ether emerged as the clearest expression of what we were always building—a place where movement, healing, culture, and connection live together.
Rather than waiting for the perfect storefront, we begin by moving through the city itself. As a mobile yoga studio, we grow organically while building meaningful relationships across Chicago. This nomadic approach gives us the freedom to transform homes, rooftops, lounges, offices, and community spaces into intentional environments for restoration, movement, and flow.
Our long-term vision is to evolve The Ether into a physical third-space wellness lounge—a sanctuary for movement, creativity, healing, and community. A place where people can gather, breathe, connect, and belong.
